Maria Paula Queluz
received the E.E. and the M.Sc. degrees in electrical and computer engineering
from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST),
Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 1985 and 1989
respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from
the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL),
Belgium, in 1996. From 1985 to 1991 she
was an assistant lecturer at IST and from 1991 to 1995 she worked
towards a Ph.D. degree at UCL, in the area of motion estimation and video
compression. Since 1996, she is an assistant professor at IST.
She
was the Portuguese representative to the project COST-206 and she has
participated in several projects in the context of the European
Union programs on R&D in the telecommunications area, namely RACE
– HAMLET, MANADIX and ACTS - TALISMAN (“Tracing author’s rights by labeling
image services and monitoring access network”). In the past few years she has acted as a Technical Auditor and Evaluator
for projects included in European Union R&D Programs, and also as a reviewer
of the IEEE Trans. on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, IEEE
Trans. on Image
Processing, IEEE Trans. on Multimedia, IEE Proceedings, Signal Processing - Image Communication , SPIE - Optical
Engineering and Journal of Electronic Imaging.
Her scientific
interests include image
analysis/processing and copyright protection.
